My oil extractor has only been used once, a year ago. Checked it out today in prep for an oil change and find that the pump is extremely hard to pull up or down, as tho the rubber part is swollen. Before I take it apart, what is a good lubricant for the rubber part? Vaseline? Dielectric grease?

I know, you get what you pay for!!

Took it apart and it wasn't the rubber O ring that was the problem. It was the plastic housing that holds the O ring and screws onto the push rod that had somehow expanded. Sanded the edge until it fit smoothly into the aluminum tube, gave it some silicone spray, and it seems to work now.
