Hi, I've read multiple posts/articles as to what coolants people think should be substitued for in certain vehicles for the OEM formulation.

I just started running Chevron Delo ELC in a Land Rover Discovery II and it seems to be working well. I decided to take that plunge after seeing "Disco Mike" over at the Land Rover Forums had been running it for a long time without any issues. I also ran in it in a Excursion (7.3 L Turbo Diesel). Both have shown no problems with overheating and they seem to run "quieter." Could be better lubrication to the water pump or just my mind wanting to hear some results from all the hard work flushing multiple times with distilled water...

Anyway I wanted to begin to use it in other cars. In my Nissan/Toyotas... [censored] no... Nothing but Toyota Red most times. I've had the Prestone All Makes All Models (everyone knows the one) leave black plastic/rubber pieces of something (head gasket i'm assuming) in my 03 camry when I last flushed it after running it for close to 15k.

I use a tool called the Airlift II to create a vacuum to fully fill the cooling system with distilled water and/or antifreeze without getting air trapped in there. (very cool and makes the process much easier look it up...) Point is, after the Prestone, the Camry can no longer hold a vacuum inside without leaking. I'm safe for now since last oil analysis showed no coolant so far...

Also, the prestone ate through my 92 sentra's water pump within a month! Stuff is [censored]!

Anyway no Delo in the 'Yota... But what about for a 2001 GMC Sierra or even a Jeep Grand Cherokee? It was formulated specificallly for diesels/heavy machinary and to fight against cavitation, but would it be acceptable to use it in other gasoline cars? Would head gaskets be eaten away? What about water pump seals?

BTW I wanted to bring up the RMI-25 cooling system treatment. I usually apply it 1.5-2k before I flush a system. I noticed that even if many of them have dirty coolant during application, the radiator's metal becomes very clean and SHINY after a distilled water flush where the RMI-25 was able to work. Sometimes little bits and pieces of sludge come out as well.

Unfortunately DexCool and G-05 leaves something to be desired in quality and EXTREMELY extended coolant life (Delo goes for 500,000 miles without extender). I'll deal with Toyota's 100,000 because the red looks soooooo nice!
