What do you think of trying Shell RTS 5w40 for my application?

Back in 2006 My 80s mitsubishi 4g13 engine ate 1 liter of oil every 3000km on semi synthetic magnatec 10w 40. I was previously using shell helix ultra 5w40 full syn and did not notice such high oil loss.
I was perplexed as the engine wasnt leaking or burning oil.
on the next oil change i switched back to full syn helix ultra 5w 40..and i noticed a loss of 1/4 of a liter only every 5000km !
And today in 2015..the consumption remains the same.
so noack does play a big role.
the amsoil 10w40 i used the previous oil change lost 1/4 liter at 8000km.
this is why i am reluctant to go back to dino or semi syn, since the lubricant quality for dino and semi seems to be pretty poor in south east asia.
