Oil Consumption

Yes I here you, with synthetic oils you get better protection and longer intervals, but be careful, there are alot of engines burning oil because of a design flaw. The Hondas in 2008 to 2012 the 2.4 could not get 6000 to 8000km and the oil light would come on,once your down that low damage is occurring.Thats why I tell people use a good quality oil and change it out around 6000km.The long intervals on some of these poor engine designed flaws runs the engine to low on oil and damage occurs. With the price of synthetic today,I don't believe it out ways conventional quality oil if changed on shorter intervals..Simply the average xars should not burn oil.Thise Hondas were burning oil around 40 to 50000km,it was horrible.shame on Honda.
Let's not forget about the vcm issues in the 3.5v6.
Owners are needing new rear rings every 100-150k miles. Total disgrace for Honda. They still use the engine killer vcm in New odysseys. Just t gey the CAFE credit.
Our 15 ody we just bought will be our last honda.
They are leaving thousands of owners, on the forums, to pay for this repair/known defects.

I've never had a vehicle since 1970 that used more than 1/4 quart per 5,000 mile oil change. Volvo, AMC 4.2L, Subaru 2.5L, Mazda 2.3 Turbo, Mazda 2.5L turbo. The 1,000 miles per quart is the limit that GM originally picked that value to consider a bad engine. I forgot which engine GM had the oil consumption issue that resulted in that value.
THE infamous 2.4 ecotec used in the equinox
