I used what was on sale but mostly Mobil 1 5W30. However, I did not notice any problem.

I'd go back to Mobil 5W30 and see if it improves.

Sorry, of all the cars I have owned only two did not use enough oil to be noticeable on the dipstick, engines use some oil and as they age will gradually use more as well. That is the way it is, those who say their cars do not use any oil are an anomaly or they feel that if it is in within the marks it has not used any as they did not add any.

Your usage is really minimal and just keep an eye on it. Oil usage is usually a gradual thing, does not appear overnight so if that is the case it may trigger some investigation but give it a longer trial to settle out

Baloney. You just haven't had enough cars yet.

Some cars don't use enough oil to be measurable during normal factory spec'd OCI's. Some do. My 6.1 liter engine is widely known for some oil consumption, yet my car uses none, even on track days. I have a van with over 400k miles that uses none. Yet another truck in the same fleet uses some with only 100k miles.

Changing oil type can make a surprising difference, and subtle grade variations can even help.

The OP needs to rule out mechanical stuff first, then experiment with his oil type a bit.

Actually, running a fleet of work trucks for nearly 40 years puts me way past most folks, and that's just vans and pickups.

When I was younger I had a passion for anything with a big engine. I regularly attend the auctions and when you factor in my son, who at 26 has already bought and sold around 25 cars...

So I guess you're right. We have.

Absolutely. We had some high mileage taxis that burned no oil, and others with the same engines that did. In fleet usage, we didn't worry about it unless it was ridiculously high, or if all vehicles were burning, in which case we might have considered a different oil.

Do a search on here or a Google search and you will see you're not the only one who has consumption issues running Amsoil.

I posted 2-3yrs ago about the same thing, huge issues in my P/U, Grizzly ATV and snowmobile.

Switched to Mobil 1 in my truck and consumption issues stopped.
Switched to Rotella in my Grizzly and consumption issues stopped.
Same with my sled, switched to a different oil and whoa la, consumption issues stopped.

This is not a slam to Amsoil (well, maybe it is?)as I still use their grease and gear oil without issue but I personally will never run their engine oil again.

Exactly.

Our routine around here is watch for consumption. To us that is anything over a quart a week or so, probably 600-1k miles. If there is usage I then check all the possibilities like leaks, PCV, etc. Once those are eliminated we will now use Kreen. If that does not help we would then go up a grade.

My 400k mile Savana 3500 works every day and uses less than 1 quart between OCI's. These OCI's occur at about 4000miles and many many hours of stationary operation at 1500-1700 rpms.

I would stay away from the Mobil and try Valvoline or Castrol, have had good sucess with those two slowing leak's caused by Mobil 1 on a lot of my cars
