Well, I'v had my car for about 6-7000km's and I'v noticed that the GC has been burning out rather quickly. I'v been topping it off with Havoline 10w30 for a while, and I don't know if its the Havoline, or the GC's action on seals and/or unsticking the rings, but recently oil consumption has gone down dramatically. I have a 1993 Mazda MX-6 with about 270,000km's on the clock so far. It runs great! Actually its producing about 40 more horsepower now, than when I bought it. Anyway, I'm going to change the oil again, since its been about 6000kms on the GC/Hav mix. I bought a jug of Esso XD-3 0w-40, but its mostly PAO and i havent read anywhere if it has any POE mixed in. I would imagine POE would be good for valve stem seals, which I would assume are leaking a bit. I never saw blue smoke come out of my engine before, so i didnt know if it was burning, but the other day I took it to 7500rpm in first and let off the gas, which would probably suck a whole lot of oil past the stem seals, then dropped in into second and I saw blue smoke! Do you think the valve seals could be letting the GC seep past? Whatever it is/was, it seems to have subsided dramatically. like i said, the next oil change will be with the ZD-3 0-40 and a litre of Castrol Syntec 5-30 for it alleged POE content, do you think this mixture would pose any problem???
