I have no idea what the actual frequency of oil changes has been for this particular Audi TT 3.2 VR6 however I would think looking at this engines top end they carnt have been either that frequent or maybe wrong spec oil used and ran to full interval? Mileage is 139,500 and it’s in because the PCV diaphragm has split and is causing missfires.

At least new things are learned here. Most of the time we hear of bad cams, lifters, chains n guides etc. - something getting ruined. This example shows us how this bit of sludge prevented any major failures from happening. Must be the new thing to strive for. 🤣 🤣

So I had a look at the service book, last recorded oil change was at 93,000 miles in 2019 and looking at the cut open filter I believe that was the last time it was serviced. Up until then it had regular oil changes every 13,000 miles on average. You can see the build up in the filter before I cut it, at the bottom.

perfect example of following the Jiffy Lube service interval for dyslexics.... every 30,000 miles or once every 3 years..

curiosity requires me to ask, how much does an oil and filter change cost in the UK?

46,500 miles on that oil change interval?! Yikes!
Yes, I would say the PCV diaphragm failing may have been a blessing for this engine otherwise who knows when or if it would ever have gotten one.

So we don’t do the cheep oil changes like in USA, at Audi you can buy a service plan that will cover 2x oil changes and a inspection for about £450 for a car like a A3, or you can pay that for one oil change , inspection and pollen filter replacement.

450 pounds = $575 USD... for 2 oil changes and a sticker ... a bargain if there ever was one. dang...

makes me glad I live in one of those underregulated areas of the USA.
I suspect it costs me about $20 to change the oil and filter an either of my cars
and no regulatory authorities are involved.

Stickers are U.S thing, never seen one. We get the stamp in the service book.

Volvo classic service is 265USD with euro VAT.
Go to your local garage and its half that maybe.
