Oil Change Stickers: Display Last Service or Next Service Due?

My Titan shows the target mileage of 5k and the miles since the last service . Example --3879 / 5000 . I keep a vehicle file with receipts and date /mileage log of service performed . No stickers needed .

It depends on the application.
On my three daily driver vehicles, I want "Next service Due."
On my Mustang that sometimes had five or six hundred miles put on it in a year "Last Service" is most useful.

I’ve never gone by the sticker. Neither has my wife who knows nothing about maintenance. We go/have gone by the on board monitor or manual recommendation. I’d be ok without a sticker altogether. But last service if I had to pick one.

The only problem with next service due is how do you decide what that should be? My girlfriend has a 2018 RAV 4 Hybrid and when she gets an oil change they put a sticker on it that says for her to come back in 5000 km but she usually goes 8 to 10,000 between changes. So that sticker is useless to her.

Next service due would be helpful to pre-plan the upcoming change. If you can see the next mileage due time & simply match up what's on the current odometer there's not much math involved vs "last service". However, all that being said I started using Google sheets to put down when I changed the oil along with the odometer reading at the time similar to the last service. I set the OLM but it's just a dummy timer of 12 months or 7,500 miles. I just don't use the windshield stickers anymore. It was just extra work & since I'm going to keep it listed in the spreadsheet no need for me.

I purchased a new oil change sticker printer and it came pre-loaded with a handful of templates. One of the templates allows you to print the date/mileage of the last service instead of the typical “next service due.”

Curious what the BITOG audience prefers. I can see the value of knowing the date/mileage of the last service if one follows their OLM religiously, and some of the large chain shops around here are printing the date/mileage of the last service on the stickers as well.
Some lucky people have a clear mind

Is there a template in it that has options for smaller print. I think Next Service Due is best for most normal people (we aren't) and would be nice with a smaller Last serviced month/year, mileage.

I need one that says OLM last reset on since I'm not following that for OCI's

I prefer " Last Service Done" because on your next run you may have beaucoup highway miles OR beaucoup city miles, either of which will guide your next service if you don't have an oil life monitor.

I'd actually like to have both

I always put last done on mine and my complaint with next is that places usually set it too soon. Also what if you're doing oil at 10, and rotations at 5, which "service" do you put?
Printer does have a template to display both but formatting is a bit goofy.

6mo/3k lof intervals and 5K rotates for the RX350h.

I'm age 73 and I still enjoy doing it.
Congrats. I'm more than physically fit to be able to do so. I don't have enough desire to do so-but sufficient funds to pay somebody else. And dozens upon dozens of oil changes performed by others-zero issues.

I did an online chat with Valvoline today asking about getting some oil change windshield stickers. They don't do that anymore. I feel bad asking for them at AA because I've been getting my oil at Walmart.

The fleet serviced vehicles where I work have stickers with both listed. "Service performed at" and "Next service due".

You guys are making want to buy one of these oil change sticker machines now..

I do my own oil changes. On my own car I drive 28k miles per year so I just use the OLM, but generally keep on eye on the trip meter and change it between 5-7.5k depending on what oil I'm using.

On my wife's care she only drives about 6k per year and it is a lot of short trips, basically "severe service". I have a hard time remembering when I changed the oil so I bought some generic oil change stickers on her windshield. I record the last service and date so I can better keep track of it.

I don't like the paper sticker type since they are a PITA to remove. I digress. I would just keep it simple and put the next date and mileage.

BTW. how much was the cost of the unit?
