oil change method

I have a B+G 6.5 mrs engine in my craftsman push mower.....when I change the oil I like to turn the mower over to drain the oil from the fill spout, unhook the spark plug, pull the starter cord a few times to get as much oil as I can.....

An OK way of maintaning my mower?

btw, I use Mobil 1 10w30 in it.

Those are similar (actually yours are a little more straightforward) to the directions in the manual for my Troy-Bilt lawnmower with a similar B & S engine.

I do the oil changes the same way ,I drain the oil when it is hot.

One word of caution, be sure the mower is out of gas when you tip it over ... or 95+% so.

We don't want any fuel dripping onto the hot exhaust now, do we?

What happens if I drain my lawn mower out the drain plug on the bottom? Do you get more old oil out by draining out the fill tube?

That's the way I do it...you should get more oil that way.

Probably won't hurt anything but I don't think pulling the starter cord will do anything. Mine just has a oil slinger that sits in the oil.
