Oil change events for charity

I've done gratis oil changes and mechanic work in the past for extended family members, or others in specific need. After too many situations that would fall under the heading of "No good deed goes unpunished", and without going into long-winded detail, I gave that up. Then I only did these things for my parents, our cars, and our kids cars.

I have a few select friends who I let come over to use my lift, tools, etc. But they also bring lunch, are fun to hang around, and do their own work. I advise when appropriate, and they haul away their used oil.

Maybe 20 years ago, but not in today's society. Nothing is the owner's fault, everything is everyone else's fault, you're bound to get somebody coming in there with a car that's ready to explode, and of course your oil change will push it over the edge. No good deed goes unpunished in 2025.

I had no idea it was that cheap. I'm guessing they're using conventional oil at that price point and the cheapest filters. Good info.
They’ll do synthetic for less than $40. I used to drop my boss off for oil changes on her Expedition. They actually do a great job, clean shop, they do lots of services for impressive prices.

I had them put tires on 2 of my cars and they did a great job.
