oil additive?

Add the first quart. Add half of the second quart. Then dose the remainder of the second quart with 1.5 OZ. of VSOT. Shake the heck out of it. It'll thicken the oil, but if you use the proper oil, 5W20, it will pour just fine. Then use the remainder of your oil to top off. It's better to mix it with a little oil first instead of just dumping it in, and I would NOT use a whole bottle at once! Way thick, and even better to heat it a little before you mix it, but like I said, mixed with 5W20, it'll pour in and mix just fine. Set in in a pan of water and heat the bottle.

By all accounts, the VSOT is a great add, especially for M1, which isn't endowed with great quantities of Moly unless the VOAs have changed. After all the talk about noisy valves with Mobil 1 5w20, since I've never heard that with ANY of my vehicles, motorcycles, or lawn equipment, all of them high strung four-bangers (except of course, the mowers) It makes me wonder, if the VSOT isn't a help in that regard, but then AGAIN, my car is brand new, I BETTER NOT get noisy valves with a $6.38 oil

If I were a Havoline user (And I might do a Havoline OCI of 7500 after this 10K OCI of M1, damm stuff is getting too expensive)), I'd do 2.5oz./qt of CD2 instead of the VSOT, as CD2 SLOB is rich in ZDDP, but no moly. CD2 also isn't nearly as thick as the VSOT.

That's ok though, because (again, unless they've changed the contents) Havoline is loaded with moly.

Mixing the VSOT w/ a 5w-20 is not really an option for me unfortunately, since I drive an older Nissan and if anything I am told they like thicker oils.

I added about 4ounces of the VSOT to my 4 quart sump yesterday. I had the bottle of VSOT sitting in another car to warm, while I took a little drive. Came home, turned off car, dumped in ~4oz warm VSOT, and started the car again and went for a little 5 minute cruise to mix it well.

I'm not one to fall for hype, but this stuff really does a great job of smoothing out my engine. After one day on it, I'm liking it a lot. Especially since it's only like $1 per oil change. Well worth it.

I am being told that it might not be good to mix any additives with Maxlife oil, can anyone say for sure if it would be bad to add synpower to maxlife?

LC should be added to everything unless another similar add is used. Does good things and no bad things.

I added ~4oz of the VSOT to my 4quart sump the other day, and the oil was dino MaxLife 10w30 with a bit over 1,000 miles on it. I liked the results.

VSOT the last time I looked was a half bottle of Lucas. I went around to Lucas, STP, Valvoline, Napa, and they were alls 99% the same exact chemical composition, the lucas and VSOT had a couple percent of 3 or 4 extra chemicals. And if memory serves in a five quarts SUMP (OIL PAN, some cars never had a pan ala 72 SuperBeetle) one bottle of stp made 5w30 a 10W-40 so why are we adding a bottle of to 5W-20 and which I'd guess would end up a 10w30 which is not as good as 5W-20 from what everyone is saying, so what gives????

Not a fan if you want 10w30 start there.

Yeow.

Put on your flame suit for saying Lucas and VSOT are the same. Only in the sense that they have an oil base. VSOT, I believe, has some PAO, moly, and a load of zddp. Lucas is just a heavy petroleum oil known as brightstock. I don't believe it even has any additives. Lucas is MUCH thicker than VSOT or even STP.

Maybe not the correct terminology, but what I mean is my car's oil capacity(total including filter) is 4 quarts.

I added VSOT at 1oz per quart of oil. The oil was Valvoline MaxLife conventional 10w30 with over 1,000 miles on it, and a WIX oil filter. I think this add+oil is a good combo, though I've never used the VSOT with any other oil, I have no complaints with the VSOT+Maxlife combo.
