Ohio's new standard License plate

Well I'm glad Ohio does not slap your county name on it! Also, there should be a FEDERAL LAW made to prevent states from selling(yes selling) vanity plates. THERE SHOULD ONLY BE ONE PLATE STANDARD FOR PASSENGER CARS PER STATE.

Why? THE COLOR OF THE LAW. A cop stops you, and you get preferential treatment when he sees you are a "Master Mason" or a "Veteran" plate.

NO! The law should be applied equally. You speed 65 in a 40, we should not pressure the cops to give special privileges.(unless you are EMT/Firefighter/stormspotter/Doctor in the business of your profession)
A "Master Mason" should not get off a speeding ticket. Or someone who has thin blue line vanity plates.....

THIS DOES HAPPEN, AND I DO HAVE SPECIAL PLATES THAT, IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE PLATES, I would have been harassed.
Even if you had normal plates you could get a medallion or one of those thin blue reflective stripes that implies you're friends of the law.

They do

You can donate to various organizations, including police-tied ones, and receive a 'badge' that people put on their license plate or you can get a sticker for your bumper or back window that accomplishes the same thing.

Notice that N. Carolina and Ohio still disagree which state is First in Flight and both use the Wright Brothers on their plates. By rights New Hampshire is First In American Spaceflight because it is the birthplace of Alan Shephard.
If/when NH is forced to do away with "Live Free or Die" that will open a whole new avenue of plate designs based on spaceflight.

My Whole life, until 2001 when those Bicentennial plates came out, they put a Sticker along the center bottom With your County Name.
with the Bicentennial plates, they switched to those Little red stickers you see in the lower left corners of the ones in my pic above.
Ohio on the top, a Giant Number from 1-88, and the name of the County under it. the Number corresponded to the Counties, arraigned in alphabetical order.
01 - Adams, 02 - Allen, etc. all they way to 88 - Wyandot.
around 2018-19 they went back to a big white decal with the county name on it across the bottom

Well, if you aren't leading by example how should you expect others to?

The current red inverted triangle top with white bottom plate looks very plain to me. I’m not opposed to one or two color plates, old school, but I’m just not a fan of the Ohio one. I like this new plate, as it includes a little of everything.

They should have a skyline five-way somewhere on there…
Ohio still has a Classic Style two color license plate that has been in production since the 60s. Although you do not want those plates on your car.

that's the original they unveiled this morning, they've already changed it.
(the Wright Flyer is backwards in the Original. the banner is attached to the Front of the plane.
yes, it looks like a tail, but it's not. it's a Canard for pitch Control.

they've already changed it, and have to recycle the 35,000 plates they had already printed...

I heard something about that on the radio and didn’t understand it. Now I do, the plane was “pushing” the banner. Lol

Lady at Secretary of state office: what plate do you want ?
Me: whatever is the cheapest

Most of the OHIO plates I see heading North are hard to see anyways since they have the non photo opaque covers on them.

PARTY PLATES!
Yellow with red letters - DUI plates.

Also white with red letters, state owned vehicles.
And white with black letters historic vehicle/ antique vehicle

They are yellow with 7 red numerals, and it signifies you've been busted for a DUI. Like the poster said above, we call them Party Plates!
You can't request these plates ! They're given to you and you don't have the option to say ! And I'm not condoning drinking and driving, but they go on all of the vehicles registered in your name so at my house, my car, my wife's, and the one our daughter drives would all have them.

There's also a stigma attached to them and it can be misunderstood.... An old friend of mine told her story on FB when she was visiting from New Mexico (she drove back to OH). She went to a store, parked her car, and some lady accosted her, screaming that a drunk driver injured or killed someone she knew, etc, etc. Her NM license plates were yellow with red letters...

In California plates are on a car for life unless salvaged or a “vanity” plate is ordered. They have the old black with yellow letter plates that can be ordered. I think the extra fee yearly is substantial like $50 or something. Would have to look it up. So most people don’t want to have that much vanity on their license plates. I think there might be some that support good causes. I pay enough already is my license plate.
