OEM vs K&N vs Mobil 1

Hello my Friends.

Im looking in to replacement for oil filter its not a price issue just the quality of Mazda oem filter went down they look like **** to me ...

K&N filter ? or M1 im not sure if M1 is making filter for Mazda 3 2.3L ...

I think K&N = super Quality right ?

The 2.3L takes a cartridge-style filter. The Mazda OEM ones have been fine for our "other" autocross car ('05 Mazda3 2.3) for the last 75K miles. They are cheap at the dealer or through Mazdaspeed, I'd just stick with that route. Or if you have to, go to NAPA and try the Wix version.

I do not think that an M1 branded variant is being made, but I do know that Champion does make the K&N-brand version....why would I pay double for a cartridge is beyond me...the main benefits of the K&N filters were the solid, tough metal cans and the 1" nut and safety-wire hole for them for racing.....delete those two benefits and still charge over $10, and it's back to the OEM filter thank you very much!

Amsoil EAO is the best filtering filter available.

there are no EAO for Mazda3 2.3L

I would also look into a PureONE. I recently posted some pictures of the K&N, PureONE and Delco filters disassembled. The K&N and the PureONE were both VERY well constructed.

I don't know about the cartridge filter, but for the spin-on, the Mobil 1 and K&N are virtually identical, save the special removal end on the K&N. So, I would purchase whichever is cheaper.

Makes sense, they are both made by Champion. We don't have access to the Mobil 1 filters, only the K&N's up here.

The air filtration is the most important filter on an engine. The K@N has a different media than the M1.
