Ordered 2 Odyssey ODPAGM48H6L3 for the 2019 Chevrolet 3500HD from Napa online. 20% advertised.
Both arrived, one clearly took a bad fall. Replaced by corporate Napa store.

The other was fine externally, box and all. Noticed yesterday the battery tray looked wet and my battery seemed to be gurgling/fizzing. That's not good. Pulled it out.

I still have the replacement from the first, and will be picking up the replacement for this recent one next week. But kind of discouraging as batteries are barely a month old.

No. Battery had been in the truck 3 weeks or so.
I'm kinda still suspecting impact damage...perhaps the crack near the post was present, but not displaced at time of installation. Then in use, it displaced as shown and because more apparent?

Once you get past this, I am sure you will be happy. I used them in the past and they were great. I have been using Clarios AGMs from various labels the past few years now...Interstate, AC Delco and Walmart. (all different countries of orgin...USA, Germany and Korea)

I was thinking about an odyssey for my next purchase and don’t like seeing battery 2 just go to pot. The 1st one can happen. Make sure you stay up on charging if your alternator bounces all over the place and use an odyssey approved charger. Once this is all straightened out, these thing typically last yrs.

I have an Optimate 6 which is on their approved list.

13 yr old Odessey in my Harley still going fine and regularly gets a vibration test. On a BatteryMinder when parked.

. It gave me no indication that there was anything wrong with it, but I was going camping very remotely for a few days and I decided that that it was time. Mine was bought during the short period that the Sears Die Hard name was on them. Today the chain store Batteries Plus sells them under the name of X2. I put one in the P car this week. You can get 18% off by giving your email and phone number.

Just picked up the replacement. Just of note, Odyssey batteries ordered online can only be returned to corporate stores. Independent stores will not accept them. Closest to me was an hour away. Napa told me not to order batteries online. Lesson learned I guess.

Though the X2 Power and Odyssey brands share ownership, the batteries are mostly seperately made. I have seen the Consumer Reports testing and they can test similarly for most sizes, but in some, there are distinct performance differences. Some are dramatically different

Good to know and you talked me right out of an oddysey. I’d like to get one but my Napa is independent and I wouldn’t know where to go in my small town. I know autozone had one that wasn’t my size and it was almost 2 yrs old covered in dust. I’ll stick to what I can get, I guess.

This sounds totally normal to me.

If you buy direct you can't return it to a dealer. Cant have that both ways.
Buy from a dealer - return to a dealer
Buy direct - return direct.

Buy from an independent closest to you - problem solved.

I happily drive an hour to have this vs another battery.

Unfortunately there isn’t an odyssey dealer on every corner. There is a Napa in almost every town, big and small. Sounds like odyssey needs to make Napa official. If I spend $350 for battery and it goes bad, I’d expect who I bought it from to take care of the issue and not have someone throw their hands up.
