Long lines, yadda yadda.
Most stations have only had 87 for fillup.

Can you guys recommend any decent OTC octane booster to use in lieu of the current gas situation out here in the Northeast.

I would think octane booster would be the last of your worries...

I made out okay......aside from losing power and having to bucket water for 7 hrs. Almost thought I was going to have a heart attack carrying those 5 gallon buckets for hours on end.

I was going to purchase a generator after Irene but nixed it, thinking I would never use it except 1X in 3 years. FedEx just delivered two Eu2000's this Saturday.

So now, even without power, I'm okay with the pumps doing the legwork. Others have it far worse. I have a roof over my head on a 35 degree day today...

I read than the Ethanol mandate was lifted for now. If only I could score me a huge underground tanker, I would scavanger me some good ole MTBE gas ...

I personally think Seafoam in overrated.....
Unless doing carbon cleanup, but for a additive, too pricey for whatever *benefits* it says it does

If FedEX can get two generators to you, it seems like there would be a short-term business in home gasoline delivery.

Any modern engine with knock sensors will run 87 fine even if the engine has the recommendation of high octane gas. At worse you notice a minor loss of power and increase in gas consumption. Likely, you won't notice the difference at all. My turbo Volvo and my V6 VW both have 91 or better octane recommendations, and both run equally well on 87 according to my butt dyno.

The key is if it has knock sensors. There are a few fairly modern vehicles (my Jeep included) that spec 91 and have no knock sensor, they can't be run on 87.
