OCI's on these filters?

I was wondering what the max OCI's are on these filters with Synthetic Oil's.

MotorCraft

Mann

Fram Extended Guard

Purolator Pure 1

NAPA Gold

WIX

SuperTech

AC Delco

K&N

I wouldn't go more than 10K on any filter...personally....BUT, it's hard to base a filters life without knowing the yr/make/model of the vehicle, and the current mileage....

here's my theory: early in an engine's lifetime you will have some sort of "wear metals" as the engine gets broken in.....as the engine ages though, provided you are using the correct oil spec'd, the wear should "taper off" per se.....so while I'd recommend a filter replacement every 3-5k during the break in period, I believe one could stretch a filter out to 8-10k after the break in (say 50k+....)

Just my theory though.

But really, it depends on the application (again, yr make and model), and the type of filter being used.....some filters are small, some are larger, offering more filter media.

It's for the F150, and it has a short filter with 90K miles.

I wouldn't go past 6K with any of those except the Fram Extended Guard it seems to be a well made long life filter. If you want to go 10K get the Royal Purple, Amsoil, Bosch Distance Plus or the new Napa Platinum.

I think oil filters will go much longer than most people realize. If the engine is already in good condition and has been maintained, I'd say any of those filters will go for 2 OCI's.

Keep in mind, the multipass capacity on this filter is 10.9 grams. The capacity on the 820S is 8 grams, but it doesn't filter as finely, so it's probably a wash. Does this filter look even close to its capacity? I have no doubt this filter will go 15-20K in my engine. My engine is clean though and I don't short trip it to death, so the filter sees an easy life. YMMV and all that.

A friend is doing 15K with Mobil 1 5w30 Extended Protection and Mobil 1 filters with his 03 Windstar 3.8. Last year we cut open his filter and it was fine.

I go 20k on Amsoil EAO Filters, running a Mobil! Filter in my kids jeep and we plan on running that 12.5k. I also agree that filters can go much longer than people think and as a filter becomes dirty it will actually filter smaller particles better.

My personal opinion...

SupertTech, AC Delco - up to 5k

Motorcraft, Mann, Wix/napa gold - up to 7.5k

Pureone, K&N - up to 10k

Fram XG - up to 15k
