I have a 06-V6 Toyota 4Runner that I use to tow a 5,000LB travel trailer I was just able to find the recommended oil that this site said may be a good fit to try "GC 0-30" so now the question is should I shorten my OCI? I usually change out either PP or Shell Synthetic around 5 to 7K depending on driving and time but in this case I will be running that oil real Hard! so should I change it out at say at 3,000mi?

Nope - GC is a tough oil, it will go a full 7k even with towing.

Any over the counter syn will do that, but Gc is a good choice.

3000 is probably still too early. GC is great, there are other great options that could all get you to 5000 or maybe 7500. I guess I'd dump it at 5000 and that gives you a really large margin of safety.

Is this the 4.0? Only reason I ask is because of a few used oil analysis on this site showing that engine is pretty hard on oil under less stressful driving, even to GC.

Yes it's the 4.0 V6 I just posted a used oil analysis on this site running Shell Full Synthetic and the results were quite good except the TBN was a bit low after only 5,400 miles.

I'd suggest looking at this used oil analysis https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/castrol-0w-30-7214-toyota-tacoma-4-0.130158/

It's just one vehicle but at 7214 miles the oil didn't look so great, and that's without towing.

I could be wrong.

Syn oil takes the heat better ,lasts longer, better pumping at below 0*F potentially less deposits. So the syn oil will hold up to towing without decreasing you oil change inteverals . Try Mobil 1 0w-40 much thicker to matter than Castrol 0w30 and should be a better oil .
