Purchased a 2006 Escape V6 36000 mi. 2 months ago. Driven 15 miles each way for work on country roads 55 mph every day. Driven very easy in SE Wisconsin. I was an uninformed shade tree mechanic before finding this excellent site. I thought all brands were created fairly equal. Anyway, purchased a case of Citgo 5W-20 semi-syn before finding this site. Plan on doing a 4k OCI and sending in a sample. Previous owner used Motorcraft 5W-20 semi-syn which I now know is an excellent choice. My question is can I confidently go 5k on the Citgo? Tried searching for an analysis but no luck. After the Citgo is gone, I'm switching to the MC. Or should I do a 4k OA just to see how the oil and engine are performing?

The Citgo is a API SM oil and will will work fine in your Escape. I used Fleet Farm Resolute which is a Citgo oil in my Mothers 03 Escape for a few OCIs with no complaints.

You can do 5000 miles on the Citgo. In my opinion, an UOA would be a waste of 20 bucks, as you're pretty far from the limits of that (or almost any) oil.

+1. Since coming to Bitog, I'm a 5k/6Month OCI person on dino. Citgo should do that OCI just fine, IMO.

That's where I got my oil also. They didn't have Motorcraft. I hate Walmart so I normally don't shop there but I will get my oil and filters from there in the future. Also, no more Fram filters for me after reading this site. I know the previous owner took real good care of the Escape so I'm not concerned. Just anxious to see "hopefully" the great analysis. 5k it will be. Thanks to all.
