Which oil for '03 Kia Sedona?

I have an '03 Kia Sedona (minivan) with the 3.5L V6. Almost 35K miles, 20K+ of it ours. It's been a very good vehicle, we really like it!

I've used both Citgo 10W-40 and Mystik 15w40 in the summer months (it seems to prefer the Mystik, it's pretty heavy duty), and one flavor or another of 5w30 in the Winter. I'm approaching my OCI (3-4K miles, it's *all* short trips), and I'm down to one of the following oils, which I have in stock:

1. Citgo Supergard 10W-40
2. Citgo Supergard Ultralife 10W-40 ("high mileage" oil)
3. Farm and Fleet 5W-40 semi-syn, heavy duty
4. Farm and Fleet 5w30

Temperatures are likely to get into the well-below-zero (F) range before the next OCI, but will probably only be below freezing half of that time. What would you use?

I hope to do an oil analysis /this/ time or, if I use anything other than the Citgo 10W-40, after 2 OCIs.

The 10W-40's seem thick for the cold weather, hence the 5W-40. The 5w30's are a bit thin in *hot* weather for this engine, I've been told.

What would you use, and why? (Please, no suggestions for oils not listed above, I've got way too much inventory I've got to reduce first).

I'd use a 5w30, for reasons you stated. The Farm & Fleet should be OK if it's API SL or SM rated.

I have some other reports at home all just horrible wear with 5w30 and 10w30, but yet I just keep using it year round, I must be crazy.

Hmm. We've got two opposite responses here - one saying "go 5w30" and the other saying "30 weight is too thin!".

That's why I bought the 5W-40, nice and thin at startup and still thick enough for this engine (which is known to like a thicker oil.)

I think I've made my decision, I hope I'm right. This has been a good runner for us and I hope it stays that way.

As I also said earlier, I'm hoping to get a used oil analysis on it one of these days (I always use Terry Dyson, he's awesome!)

I'd have to find it but I have a couple UOA that sheared to a high 20wt but still no bearing wear to speak of. To thin I don't think so, but the engine does seem to run fine on just about anything short of salt water.

If you need to use up what you got, use the 5w30 in the winter and the 10w40/5w40 the rest of the year.
