I managed to make it over to Javitts Center for the NY Auto Show this weekend and am glad I did. It's been a few years since I've gone to the show and I forgot how much I enjoy it.

Lots of beautiful vehicles and some very surprising entries from the domestic makers. Dodge/Chrysler are coming out with some very nice products these days. Engine stuff aside for now (could care less about a Hemi) the styling and practical thought going into some of their models is impressive. I particularly like the Dodge Magnum and Chryler Pacifica. The Magnum could be the first station wagon I've seen that I'd actually buy FOR the styling. Imagine wanting to buy a station wagon over a sedan because you like the styling? Very neat car and nicely thought out interior.

While the styling wasn't quite up to the Magnum, the Pacifica seems a very nice answer for those who need a mini-van, want AWD but want to drive a car rather than a SUV. I wish my wife had waited a bit longer and checked out the Pacifica instead of jumping at the Pathfinder. All in all, I am very impressed at what the boyz at Daimler/Chrysler are offering. THis is coming from a traditionally blue oval type of guy.

The thing that really ticked me of at the auto show.......Ford keeping some of their key new vehicles locked up and off limits to the public.

I sat in a Maserati, Caddies, a Lotus and other vehicles with HUGE price tags but Ford had the 2005 Mustang locked up and the new Ford 500 off limits.
