Put the ole original OG Nu Finish on the ride tonight. Been using it more than 30 years, I think it still makes paint look good. I don’t know about the no rubbing or buffing…I’ve never understood that one. Sure felt like rubbing to me. I also have never been too sure of the lasting a year. I remember back in the day it would say “for maximum protection apply a second coat in 30 days.” Not once have I done that. I never feel like doing it again in 30 days!

I received some Collinite 845 for Christmas-per request. I wanted to try it due to the change in viscosity-and whatever else in the latest version of NuFinish. While I like the shine with the Collinite-it's a real PITA to work with. Consequently-last time I polished by wife's Volvo I used the NuFinish.

It's still my go to even with the changes. I will use up the Collinite on my Black truck. And then move on to what someone suggested on here-the Meguiars Ultimate Wax.

Im surprised you find Collinite difficult to use. It’s the cleanest easiest wax I’ve ever applied. Doesn’t leave chalky residue on black plastic either.

You are right about the residue
Otherwise I dont like it.

God knows Nu Finish can’t say that. I have learned over the years to know “when to say when” approaching black plastic parts. For years just close enough was actually too close and I’d end up with the crap all over my door handles, mud flaps, trim, etc.

Has there been a verified change? I’ve heard about it but I can’t say I have been able to necessarily observe a difference.

It appears so-it's a thinner product than before. In addition-there have been a few who have actually read the current MSDS sheet and they have stated changes were made. I have used it for years-and yes there is a difference verses before.

I've always wondered what's in Nu Finish, as it has a strong chemical smell.

Since you noted it may not last a year, how long does it tend to last? I may use this on my daughter’s Passat since I would only want to wash/wax it every so often

It is still durable. That's the thing-it's heck on Black trim, but still a product you can put on in direct sunlight-and it still comes off-and lasts.

It's good for a month before the water stops beading up. It's not bad for a cheap wax.

I buy meguiars for the smell. If it smells good it must work really good.

People still buy this stuff when there is Griot's 3 in one???
Griot’s 3-in-1 is excellent. Such a great product, and easy to apply.

I also like using Griot’s glass sealant on my windshield for water beading. In my younger days I used to use Rain-X, but hated the haze it always left and how my wipers would stick and skip sections on the windshield.

Once I tried out Griot’s glass sealant, I ditched Rain-X and never looked back. It lasts forever and leaves glass crystal clear.
