2015 rs nissan juke. I bought 2 5 qt jugs from amazon, but as I relook at the owners manual, it says that the ns2 is for the nismo model, and that the rs model requires ns3. Should I look for ns3, or put in the ns2 and rest easy?

Although I don't know for a fact, I'd look for the NS-3. I believe it is a better formula(full syn) than the NS-2(blend???).
However, I believe that NS-3 is backward compatible and can be used instead of NS-2.

It seems strange that the NISMO model(more sporty/high performance) only calls for NS-2 and the RS calls for NS-3!
Unless the NISMO uses an older CVT...which may be more beneficial for its particular engine???

I always thought the RS & NISMO were one & the same.

I'm assuming it's not Nissan fluid given 2.5qt jugs? All the OEM NS-2 and NS-3 CVT fluid I've seen and purchased only comes in 1qt bottles. I wouldn't use the fluid you bought unless it suitable for use with what your car needs. They say it's a big no-no to use N2-2 where NS-3 is spec'd, or the other way around. Nissan NS-2 is green in color and NS-3 is blue. Problem is, they both look greenish once they have some miles on them. Then to further complicate things, universal CVT fuilds that cover NS-2 and NS-3 are either red or motor oil colored.

My choice would be Castrol CVT fluid. A few times a year, it goes on sale for $5/qt at the major parts stores. Amazon has it for $35 for a case of 6

The 5 qt bottles I was referring to are:
Idemitsu 30040091-95300C020 CVT Type N (NS-2) Transmission Fluid for Nissan-5 Quart
It was 43$ on amazon and I bought two. The nismo using ns2 is what is really puzzling me.

Looks like you have to go with their "TYPE-N3" fluid to get NS-3 specs.

What I'm getting at is, your Nissan being a 2015 should spec NS-3. I would not use an NS-2 only fluid in it.

I get my NS-3 off eBay for around $10/qt shipped. If I still have my Nissan Quest beyond warranty, I'll use a universal CVT fluid in it that says suitable for NS-3 use.

Like slacktide suggested above, if you are not concerned with warranty coverage at this point, Castrol CVT juice covers pretty much all specs. I'd use it.

Based on my research, the NS3 is a lower viscosity than NS2, I don't recommend you use NS2 in a CVT that spec's NS3. If the newer NS3 was backwards compatible, there would be notice from Nissan, and phasing out of the older spec fluid - prevents stocking both.

good luck with whatever you choose as a CVT repair-replace rivals the cost of an engine.

Based on Analysis, NS-2 and NS-3 CVT fluids have all been between 7.1 and 7.5 cSt@100C.
