Time to do an oil change. I have Syntec and Pennzoil YB, which one to use? I got the Syntec/Mobil filter deal for 27.99 but still have a big bottle of Pennzoil to use as well. Which one?

Well, I can always run one or the other in my Bronco. I wanted to check out my local autoparts store for some 0w-30. I thought some Amsoil or Redline would be nice to try during this cold weather.

Well, I just got back from the local auto parts store and they are an Amsoil Dealer. I bought 6 qts. of Amsoil Severe Service Series 2000 0-30. I was reading the back and it says to change every 35k or 1 year. OMG, seriously? If that is the case I will be a happy man. I'm tired of changing my oil every 1.5 months. Well, I'm about to drop the MC thats in the truck now and pump it full of the new stuff along with an oversize M1-209 filter. Lets see how this goes.

Do you mean the Signature Series Oil?

I would run maybe 10-15,000 miles and do a UOA to see how it is holding up. If good then keep it in longer.

If you drive 2-3000 miles a month it must be mostly highway miles, then Amsoil Severe Service Series 2000 is the right oil for you with OCI of 1 year.

Yes. I drive 2k to 3k per month due to my work commute. I also tow my boat a couple of miles down the road 3 times a week during June, July, August and Sept. My highway miles are very easy miles and I don't usually drive over 75 mph. Thanks for the help

I'm not sure what signature series is but the bottle reads Amsoil 2000 Severe Service

Is this the oil you bought?

If so, it has been discontinued and replaced with the Signature Series 0w30.

Yep. That's he bottle. They had a whole shelf full of it and a couple of cases too. Did I waste my money on inferior stock oil?

I'm going 10k to 15k on this oil and getting it tested. Talk to you in August. LOL

15k will be a piece of cake for TSO. It's only shortcoming, iirc, is that it would thicken a bit. Kinda like an M1 0w-40 .except going the other way

I put it in the truck at a perfect time then. By the time it starts to warm up in June and July it will start to thicken. I've run 15-40 in the Summer last year and it was fine. Sounds like a win, win for me.
