For one thing, this article is badly out of date. I happened to come across this article a long time ago. For some reason I was not able to open it up again, but I believe they refer to the oils as SF-that was a long time ago.
It reads almost like an ad for the oil that he talks about. Kind of like the infomercials you see on TV from time to time promoting some oil supplement or engine treatment.
No way that Mobil 1 is a poor quality oil. Mobil 1 may have a few problems-maybe it is a little on the thin side. But Mobil 1 is used as the factory fill oil for many high priced automobiles. Now, ExxonMobil may be helping to make that happen in some manner, through some sort of promotion or whatever. But I don't think these quality auto manufacturers are going to put a poor quality oil into their cars.
And I think Mobil 1 is either a full PAO oil or at least 80% PAO. They used to put esters and/or conventional oil into PAO oil so that the additives would mix properly. I don't know if that is still necessary or not. And in the article they kind of put down esters. A lot of people would probably consider an ester-based motor oil superior to even a PAO-based motor oil.
And remember, this article is apparently dated. How come this miracle oil is not in all cars/trucks, or at least the factory fill for cars like the Corvette? If it was so superior to Mobil 1 and other motor oils, we would hear more about it today.
