I do the same, when I first started driving I had a car full of people have their blinker on, as if they were going to turn. I went to go, trusting the blinker, and had a near miss. Close call. It was the way the car full of people, at least 4, were just glaring at me, like demons from hell, that set me off.. I've learned a lot about driving since then. When I lived in Mesa, I came to the conclusion that the valley was the red light running capital of the world. It taught me the great habit of looking both directions and proceeding with caution when my light turns green.
I have since learned to never trust a blinker, never had an accident since then as far as car coming in contact with another motorist's car, and even on the forklift I operate, I don't trust someone to turn when they have indicated they are going to do so. It takes a few seconds extra, yeah, and I've had coworkers use colorful language under their breath when I don't enter the turning intersection the same time another fork is turning, but:
1. Never trust a blinker
2. You can be right, but you can be dead right.
Okay carry on.
