New "speed bumps" installed behind the store today by a contractor...

They show up with a bunch of the green metal T fence posts, and 2 skids of bagged pothole patch (sealbest from Menards I believe). Bring no provisions to block off the traffic, leaves that up to us at the store.

Each of those bumps is a t-post, laid on the existing asphalt, and a few bags of pothole patch poured overtop and worked into shape with a torch and a shovel.

They'll be back tomorrow to paint them yellow.

This is the same patch material we use elsewhere in the parking lot, that sticks to tires better than the asphalt/substrate. We're constantly filling the same potholes, month after month, yes after year... But they'd rather just keep dumping patch into them than pave a section or 2....
so after letting them "cure" for a full week, we were told to take the barricades down today.
So we do.
First vehicle through is a semi with a dairy delivery...

Leaves 2 tire ruts through the middle hump the whole way down the back of the store.

One of the managers who weighs about a buck fifty fully dressed and soaking wet goes out and looks it over.. stands on one, he can feel the Asphalt move under HIS weight...

Re erect the blockades..

I guess 8 days of cure time wasn't long enough...

As always I got up at around 04:15. I went for my 5-mile run, came back and worked till 14:00. I then went for a drive in Marin. I took 116, following the Russian River to Duncans Mills with the old train depot, then to Jenner and onward to Fort Ross. On the way back I took a smaller road between Valley Ford and Dillon Beach. It was a warm day along the coast at about 70°F and I went for a swim. I guess the water was about 56°F. I got back home by 19:00. I could have worked till 20:00 or until comatose, hopped in my self-driving car and done the same trip while taking a well-deserved nap.

There's a railroad museum and some train cars on display in Duncans Mills a few miles from Jenner.

If you like bear carvings, they got one of those at the train depot in Duncans Mills. No werewolves, those would be in Tarker Mills. ;)

Looking south from the awesome serpentine road above Russian Gulch State Park. It's like driving along the Mediterranean.

Gratuitous shot backwards while headed for Bodega Bay. This vehicle is shockingly short. I can reach back and touch the spoiler. It's a cockpit strapped to a turbo engine.

The next two pictures show the scenery when driving from Valley Ford on HWY1 to Dillon Beach via a backroad.
