To my mind, it's hard to say. Probably not One or Two things but many.
There were/have been many changes in the U.K. since the war, Break down of the Class system, change in economic base, Baby Boomers coming of age and aging, Joining the EEC. as well as the influx of immigrants from various cultures into a predominantly White, Protestant society.
Not all has been bad, but it remains to see how it all plays out.
