My local store has the XG3614 available for pickup today. On Sale for $7.94
Clicking on "options" next to the store allows you to see other stores in the area.
The next 4 closest Walmarts close to me all have it in stock.

I wonder why it's on sale. Closeout? I hope not.

Still using the same oil I used with the Ultra, and there is no visible difference in the color of the oil, looks about the same after 6500-7k. So I think the TG efficiency is about the same, but for that engine, the flow is better. So now both my vehicles use the TG.

Pretty hard to believe the TG flows better than the Ultra. Start-up ticks is an indication of the ADBV possibly leaking - maybe those Ultras didn't seal 100%. Piston slap has nothing to do with the oil filter.

Plain & Simple: The Ultra does not work well for some vehicles and the biggest complaints on startup clatter come from various used vehicle GM owners, but obviously not all. Too many different designs, pressures and variables at-play here.

I think it is as you said, "various designs". The CAFE legislation is encouraging the use of thin oils which don't help matters.

No Fram Ultras at Walmart? What are they going to swap supertech boxes at checkout with then?

Our Walmart has them. I wish they would put a clear sealed cover over the boxes and make them tamper proof. If the seal is broken buy an unopened one. They did this with food and drugs we might as well do it with oil filters too.

I have a Walmart within 2 miles of my house and while I haven't seen them not have Ultras of various models on the shelf, they do seem to not stock up on my preferred Castrol Edge 0W-40 so often. I've resorted to just getting both from Amazon at times to good effect.

If they don't have it in the store you just order it online and do a pickup on it. That way you don't need to order $35 worth to get free shipping.
