I like that. It's eons more apt than "To protect and serve"

Or as a friend of mine was told by the cop who pulled him over when there were people going faster than he was, "it's a lot like fishing; you catch what you can."

I don't worry about being pulled over for speeding because I don't. And I'm always glad to see the state patrol and the county officers out on the highway. What minimal contact I have had with law enforcement officers has been good. I always thank them for the job they do, and I don't mind buying their lunch when I see them in one of It's a nice,

cool late June day in Nebraska. Suppose to be 48F tonight.

I hope the 'squid' learns to cool his jets before its too late. At those speeds death is just a split second away.

And for motorcycle speeding... I got passed by 5 motorcycles going 160 mph on Interstate 64 one night. I was going my typical 79 mph and those cats blew by me like I was sitting still. It was amazing how fast they were rolling.

We get 106% of the speed limit, no more....

How do you know they were going 160 mph?

But then I'm okay until I get to Florida. Every stop light has a cam. Last year they were fighting it but I never heard the outcome.....

I don't get tickets but my luck will run out soon. I'd hate to come home and a few weeks later get a few thousand dollars in Florida cam tickets.

Download Waze. It alerts you to red light and speed cams.

Speed cam tickets have no teeth here in TN anyway. One of our state representatives is trying to get them removed, and said he "Prefers to burn his":

Pretty much nailed it.

I drive a bit more and you describe what we see every day...

Right you are on all counts!

It's a mess out there, I used to think Michigan was bad, its now just as bad here in Indiana, don't get to Ohio much.

Maryland SUCKS. Born and raised there and was blessed to leave their and come to Texas. The poster is correct - MD state police and local police will ticket as low as 5mph over. Relentless. MD doesn't have realistic speed limits either, they need the revenue from tickets being a tax and spend government there. Texas has speed limits that are realistic and are not as ticket revenue generated unless you are really pushing it.

Got up to I'd say 100mph. Within seconds a Trooper passes him coming towards us. I guess the officer figured the clown would kill himself so he did absolutely nothing and didn't even hit the brake pedal. I had seen the guy on the motorcycle take a quick turn down another road as I'm sure his heartbeat cranked up to the max.

Here in MD. they will nail you for 5mph over. I guess the officer did the right thing as that punk would have ran no doubt and killed himself or others. Lucky day for him.

You only know 1/2 the equation here ...

What was the Trooper doing? Was he on duty (did you see him in uniform)? Was he looking at his computer and missed the visual? Was he already assigned to a call and the infraction you witnessed didn't measure up to the crime he may have been dispatched to? There's nothing wrong with asking the hypothetical question; why didn't he pursue? But until you understand what his departmental policy is and what his condition was at that moment, it's unfair to pass judgement.
