In Naval Air, they purge the tires of all aircraft with dry, water-pumped Nitrogen. Tire pressures ashore on A6-E Intruders was around 265 psi. At sea, doing carrier landings, 375 psi. Amazing thing with those tires. 25 or 30 ply tires. 375 psi. Except for a couple of crashes on deck, I never saw one blow at sea. Ashore, they'd blow all the time, but never at sea.
