Car in question is a 2008 Altima with the 2.5 four cylinder, it calls for a Fram 6607 sized filter, the longer filter is the 7317. Anyone running this filter on their newer 2007-2012 2.5 Altima without issues? engine wise and clearance/space wise. If so, I will get my buddy a case of the longer Baldwin B1402 filters, the 7317 equivalent, through my work discount. no engine noise or anything with the longer filter, those of you running it? He plans on running these filters and Supertech Syn 5W30 for 6k intervals

I have a Mobil 1 M-110 which is the equivalent to a 7317 on my Altima 3.5. No problems at all with it. I doubt the 2.5 is really any different in how well it could work. It should have the necessary clearance to work as well.

I only ran Nissan oem oil filters. They were made in Japan and appeared to be very high quality. Now, that was 3 years ago so things may have changed.

I used a Fram TG 7317 on my Infiniti once and it made the engine clackety. Could've been a defective unit but I only use the OEM filter now. It's a shame because I love the TG/Ultra on my Hondas.

My 2013 Altima 3.5 also called for the 6607. I successfully used the XG 9688. It's quite a bit larger in diameter than the 7317, and slightly shorter. Worked great. Had double the internal volume of the 6607 (which would slide inside of a std coke can if you cut the top bevel off....unacceptably small).

Going from Ultra in 6607 to Ultra in 9688 also quieted a little bit of lifter tick that the car had on cold start; zero tick with the 9688. Both had similar bypass settings and ADBVs.

Take a look at the FPS9688 (Fram Ultra without the grippy stuff) in six packs on eBay. You can get them for around $33 shipped for a six pack.
