the '03 Accord spec's 7,500 and 15,000 on the filter..just wondering if there's any reason or opinion this product won't meet that benchmark?

It might be able to depending on your driving conditions and your vehicle's mechanical condition. I'm gonna be the one who says it I suppose, just get a UOA...

7.5k OCI? Sure.

15k filter intervals depend on the filter being used. Fram? Absolutely no way. Purolator/WIX? Sure.

For that 2.4 should be able to do that but the only way to know for sure is a UOA. Also I would not lose sleep if you do not change the oil filter but I would do it. The reason is if you are going to the trouble of changing the oil why not install a new filter?

it's alot quicker OCI not changing the filter and I don't want to waste half or more of the filters life..this unit has been on the spec regiment since day 1 with fifty cent Shell, Citgo, Chevron whatever's cheap..now FAR NextGen.

I looked down the fill neck and through the baffle it appeared tinted sort of but not much at all.

I really favor Valvoline out of everything I've used. But the standard VWB or Next Gen starts low with a 6.1 TBN. I don't feel comfortable running that past 5k. Max Life is another story and a whole new league for just a couple bucks more.

I would ALWAYS go for Max Life given the opportunity.

If you drive mostly highway miles, say 90% of all miles, then any major brand conventional oil should probably work fine up to 7500 miles. Ford now recommends 7500 mile OCI under normal duty without requiring the motor oil to be synthetic or synthetic blend. Here is a link to UOA of NAPA conventional (Valvoline clone) for an Accord:

I do wonder about the wisdom of keeping the oil filter for 15000 miles. I'd rather buy a cheap filter (e.g. Purolator Classic) or use one of my spare Frams (they were bundled with oil on sale) every 7500 miles since I am getting underneath the car to change oil anyways.

thx, stands to reason if the engine is so easy on oil it would take a load off the filter too...no?

Maybe, but why take chances. People who go 15,000 miles on a single oil filter often choose a high end oil filter like Mobil 1 Ep, K&N, etc, which costs about twice the price of a typical Purolator Classic or say Motorcraft filter.

don't like to get to far ahead of myself in the oil filter department, current stash is P1... @$3.00ea. on a AAP sale..that would be my max price for a filter..Menard's has the Quaker State white can I like @$1.99 occasionally...would hope these major brands must exceed a standard of quality..how else could auto mfg's rec every other OCI or 15k.
