Does anyone have information on, when the next API/ILSAC certification oils will be coming to market?

Meaning, API SO or SP/GF-6? Will the API be skipping a designation such as SO and moving straight to SP or SQ?

Is this in the plans yet? Do we even need a better oil or is API SN/GF-5 already hard to beat?

Being somewhat facetious, what's the point of having an organising body unless you are organising ?

Of course there'll be something "better", and "more improved" by API and ILSAC, and there will be meetings, and seminars, and lobbying, and more meetings (and travel to those meetings), and wanting to have your engine and parts supply on the official testing protocols.

Just look at the hodgepodge that 16 was, with an overlap on KVs with the 20s, just to make the intention more obfuscate.

expect more OEM approvals requirements, and ACEA to take on more relevance.

There wasn't.

Then I'm gonna go way out on a limb and guess that there'll never be an SO.

OP is wanting to know when the next API certification will be so he knows when to buy up all the API SN on clearance.
