Whoopsy. I have been thinking about fishing lately.

It irritates me when they refer to it as, "The Ukraine." It's just, "Ukraine."

You don't say, "The France" do you?

Same thing when they call it, "The Sierras." "Sierra" is already plural.

Or if they're able to help my uncle Jack, off his horse.

There was a report from Austin, TX about a drunk that drove into a crowd at SXSW trying to get away from the police after a DUI stop. Killed two and injured 23.

The report stated the driver was in a Toyota Civic.

As a foundryman, I once got a kick out a newscaster reporting on a runout at the Rouge plant -- referring to the molten metal as a "steamy pile." The steamy piles I usually see are in my back yard.

Thats mainstream media for you, regurgitating the same thing, across the whole country. Same phases about any story especially politics.

I'm also seeing more and more news and TV show hosts who can't pronounce words correctly...if I hear one more person pronounce the word "especially" as "eKspecially", I'm gonna scream!

One local newscaster kept pronouncing Laotian as "Low Asian".

Not "Lao-shun" or "Lay-O-shun". Low, Asian.

Arlington has a fairly sizable Laotian community. I wonder if she got any angry calls or e-mails.

I laugh a little when I hear a newscaster say, "supposably".

One of the local newspapers, The Post Standard, publishes a website - syracuse.com.

They have the ABSOLUTE WORST journalism I have ever seen. Grammatical errors left and right, poor spelling and absolutely zero editing.

The commenters are the editors for the paper. I'm amazed that we allow this in Syracuse ... We have a university with a strong journalism program.
