Newish Shoes!

Since buying my F250 the tires felt square. I played with balancing and moved them from end to end with little result. The tires were brand new Firestones, so I wanted to wear them down a little before giving up on them. I gave up this weekend.

Found a year-correct set of alloy/chrome cover wheels on FBM with decent Michelins and here they are!

They ride so smooth. No bounce, rattle and shake at highway speed. I'm sure it helps that they are much bigger. Only downside is that they are heavier and the larger diameter makes acceleration and braking a little slower. Otherwise, I'm very happy.

Bought it 2 years ago with 24k miles. Was an older gentleman's plow rig. Just rolled over 52k miles.

Its a good truck, but sitting has not been kind to it. I've done a lot of work to it. Just this year:
- Wheel bearing units in the front.
- Tie rod ends
- Brakes
- Entire E brake system
- Front driveshaft
- Vacuum brake booster
- Transmission cooler lines
- Trans pan (very crusty)
- Diff covers (moderately crusty)

I'm sure it helps that they are much bigger. Only downside is that they are heavier and the larger diameter makes acceleration and braking a little slower.

If they're a bigger diameter they will also affect your speedometer. If they're a bigger diameter than "normal" you're now going faster than indicated.

A heavier wheel and tire combination will slow your acceleration too. It takes extra energy to get the extra mass rotating as well as moving forward.

I think I can adjust the tire size programming with my Autel computer, as its a stock size, but not sure.
