Newer diesel oils in older gas vehicle

I definitely have a preference for fully synthetic oils. Over here in Europe there is almost no demand for anything else. Much of this is down to ever tightening emissions controls and the exhaust after treatment 'arrangements', shall we say.

Couple that with the healthy diesel car market and mandatory DPF fitment since 2007 you can see why.

However, there are some situations where mineral or semi-synthetic oil is useful. Not many, but they do exist.

Stick with bmw acea latest oil recommendation for a similar new engine (I assume yours is an online 6 so check online for oil recommendation for BMW 2017 inline 6 and use same oil

That would be a negative ghost rider. The M30 straight six is not like the modern engines you see in the new M cars, requires thicker oils. Could I run M1 0w40? Yeah sure but it's almost never cool enough to justify using that in my state. Ideally I would just get M1 15w50 for all weather types but I've decided to go down the route of HDEO for the colder months plus the detergency of HDEOs helps.

Haha, healthy market, what a joke! It was pushed by politicians manipulating the taxes on gas and gasoline cars, in order to advance a globalist agenda, in disregard for public health.
The technology was incentivised in Europe in the hope that its adoption would reduce "global warming" emissions, but lead to thousands of extra deaths from increased levels of toxic gases. This was lobbied mainly by the German car manufacturers.
