Matrix has the SAME engine as my 05 Corolla.

Check out my used oil analysis (there are MANY) showing the engine with many different brands, type of oils.

I'd recommend with NO question a 5000 mile or 6 month (whichever comes first) with Pennzoil conventional, Halvoline DS, Valvoline premium, QS green bottle or Mobil 5000.

Take care, bill

except for one year of M1, i have just used any old 10w30 as long as it had the starburst symbol on front- have used super-tech and Pennzoil the most. I haven't had any problems exept the oil light yesterday and I am at 311,800 miles on my 95 accord. even if it is shot (i will know 2morrow) i have a ton of miles and for the most part (13yrs) used dino. also, if the pressure is indeed a little low, i will probably just move to a 40 wt or something and plan on a replacement for when i seize the engine.
