Hi everyone, great site! I'm looking to change all the fluids in my '02 GMC Sierra Denali. The truck has Quadrasteer so I'm using the GM Synthetic in the rear because it's the only one that can prove it meets their spec# 9986207. Schaeffers 267 is being recommended to me but when I called them they told me it dosen't meet the GM spec. For the transfer case I bought the new blue Autotrack II fluid, which is not synthetic, but I'm not sure why it would be better than the Mobil 1 ATF that I have in there. For the front diff.(75-90) I'm trying to decide whether to use the EP Amsoil, Schaeffers, M1 or something else. Any opinions??

Schaeffers. I know they're sufficient. I just wanted to know if one was better than the others.

Any of the fluids in the last sentence should be sufficient.

No one I know of makes a replacement for the AutoTrac II fluid so you are stuck with using that. Back in 2002 I tried to find an alternative but GM would not tell me a thing about the AT II fluid. I do know its made in Canada and from what I was told by someone at GM, its a propriety GM Product. But you should not have to change it out unless you have a high mileage vehicle or the TC was subjected to moisture (flooding or off-roading in deep water).
I have a 2004 GMC Ext Cab SLT Z71 and have the Amsoil Series 2000 gear lubes in both the front and rear axle as well as the synthetic ATF in my trans.

My '02 Sierra Denali Didn't come with Autotrack II,it had red ATF in it and I changed it to Mobil 1 ATF. Should I put the AT II in or continue using ATF?? On the truck forum sites like gmtrucks.com or GMC c3 owners they recommend the new blue fluid but don't say why, most think that it's synthetic but it's not.
I do know the AT II is blue in color but cannot recall what the old AT fluid was. It may have been red but I can't be certain, I did not change it myself, paid someone to do it for me.
If you put regular ATF in it, that may be a problem I don't know what kind of TC the Denali has? It the transfer case (TC) NV236/296 Auto, if so ATF is not the correct fluid.

This truck has AWD and the manual says ATF but that was printed before AT II came out. Should I switch? The Mobil 1 ATF took away a loud whine from the case, it's an NVG 149.
Follow your manual.
My info says the NV236/296 TC's use AutoTrak II fluid, its predessor was just called AutoTrack fluid and was used on vehicel back into the 90's. It was known to cause clunking noises in the TC.
My 2004 Sierra SLT Ext. Cab Z71 has the AutoTack tranfer case, 4 button switch on dash, {AUTO, 2WD, 4WD and 4WD LOW}. I don't know anything about what comes with the Denali so I can offer any advice. I have a friend who has a 2004 Yukon Denali XL but they are on vacation out West and not going to be back till late Nov. so I can't see what his manual says on the subject.
