New Toyo tires

It's been awhile since Toyo has come out with new performance tires. The T1-R and Proxes 4's have grown long in the tooth. I wonder if these models are made in Japan or in their China factory like their passenger tires are now?

All toyo tires will be china made soon (if not already) I think they are aiming for budget market now.


While they seem to be great sport tires, my local belle tire tells me stories of wear....make Falken tires look like long lasting ones..

I have T1Rs on my 07 Si and they have been nothing but amazing. Going on a good 20,000 miles not and still lots of life left.

Grip good in the wet, amazing when it's dry. Not too noisy, look good. What's not to love?

As long as the tires are still made with the same high standard for quality, it doesn't matter who actually makes them. They should still be good, IMO.

Performance is reciprocal to tread life. People, who buy 85k tires should practice professional safe driving. Toyo makes good tire. It is up to you to decide, if the premium is worth it.

I had Japanese-made Toyo OE tires on the Mazda when I bought it - I realize it's not fair to cast aspersions on their whole product line based on one OE product, but I was unimpressed.

I ran 2 sets of toyo open country at tires
both 265/75R16's

besides some irregular wear (common on the ford ranger)

they are good. not great.. but a good tire and good value.

I think in most applications other tires are somewhat better than toyos offerings but they do have a few gems.

I used to have Ultra High performance tires (dabbled in auto-x in my current car, rally-x on my old car)....now I have Kumho ECSTA Platinum LX... does that mean I automatically need to go get professional training on how to drive safely?

I have had two sets of Proxes 4 on my car, they are an excellent all season design.

I even set fast lap at a road course event on these! I have heard mixed reviews on Toyos in general.

EVEN their 'R' compound lines (RA-1, R-888)??!
