Agree with Back in Black.

Shania Twain's 1995 Album.

John "mutt" Lange produced three of these releases.

murmur is only significant because it was their first LP. Document is a MUCH more solid album and is really the the one that got them wider recognition (although I like everything from murmur to automatic for the people)

If you like early/mid 70's Hard Rock/Metal, then the one album that set the standard was:

On Your Feet Or On Your Knees - Blue Oyster Cult

This was before they went commercial 'Don't Fear The Reaper'.
They had a sound, a drive, and a lot of talent.
Also, this was before computerized editing, fixing live albums by mixing in parts of studio cuts to cover mistakes, etc.

One of the great early Hard Rock/Metal albums - and considered by many their best album.

If you don't have it, get it! Or if you haven't heard it in a long time, hear it again.

After hearing this one, you'll never think of this group the same again.

Just listened to the "Godz" on You tube. I wore out an 8-track of thiers back in the 70's. Not a well known band and definately under rated especially thier lead guitarist at the time.

How about some more from the 60's and early 70's

Wheels of Fire - Cream

John Mayall Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton

Led Zeppelin I,II,III, IV

Blind Faith

Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix

Mountain - Nantucket Slayride and Mississippi Queen

.....Just a taste for the moment.....

It is hard to pick just one album so my faves

Led Zeppelin 1
Dire Straits- Love Over Gold
David Bowie-Diamond Dogs
The Smiths-The Queen is Dead
Rush-2112,Permanent Waves
Mott The Hoople-All the Young Dudes
Metallica-Master of Puppets
Oasis-Whats the Story Morning Glory.
The Who- Who's Next, Tommy
Pink Floyd-DSOTM,The Wall,

Some more offerings: machine head - deep purple

cosmos factory - CCR

Million mile reflections - CDB

disraeli gears - cream

band on the run - mccartney

ghost riders - outlaws (again, sure the outlaws were on the map, I am looking for ideas on the album that outdid everything)

1984 - VH

greatest hits: eagles (this prolly remains their MOST popular album save 'long run' in 4 formats: record, 8 track, cassette and cd)

I'll chime in with +1's on:
Allman Bros, Filmore
Pink Floyd, Dark Side
Eagles, 1st Greatest Hits

+ A few others listed above I can't remember right now.

Since no one's listed it- this wasn't a hard-rockin' album, but was a true influential biggie all the same.

Simon & Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water

Uhhh..... That is one of my fave PF albums (good riddance to whining Roger Waters). But I think Floyd was pretty well known before that.
