New tool thread

Confession- I deliberately avoid this thread as so many good tool ideas, I was buying tools and would not even remember I purchased the tool(s).

Watched a Project Farm (I know--I know) video and these Snap-on™ 13pc Multispline Screw Extractor Set REX13C performed well. A let of sets performed very poorly. When one needs this type of extractor, nothing worse than having the tool fail.

Found the set on Ebay for $99USD. Seller has four sets to sell, already sold three. No other Seller at the under $100 USD price point with free shipping. With only one set left, decided to buy the last remaining set.

I had a Honda roll in with crappy aftermarket wheels and stock lugnuts. My thin wall SnapOn flip socket has striations etched into it and marred two bores.

Until now I've never needed the "wheel saver" sockets but had O'Reilly bring me a PowerTorque in 19mm. No real reason on brand except I could get it delivered before I even put the wheels back on.

Fortunately the owner won't notice and wouldn't care if he did.

I went to Lowe’s yesterday and saw Kobalt chrome sockets for .99 cents. Didn’t need a single one of them but cleaned out all the metric and got a few standards too. Got a wrench that dad wanted too. Since I’m on vacation this week I plan on hitting up some more Lowe’s today. Said on the receipt I saved like $193 lol. Total with the bucket was $46 something. Tons of duplicates that I might decide to sell but idk yet. Going to hit up the two other Lowe’s in my town then going to ride to my work town and go to that Lowe’s and then when we head to North Carolina I plan on stopping at a Lowe’s on the way there or back. This makes me wonder are they doing away with Kobalt all together and how will they warranty stuff without individuals?

All three Lowes stores near me also have the .99 sale on singles. I wanted to need them but really don't; I already have metric through 22 mm and SAE through 7/8 in both 3/8 and 1/2 drive, 6 and 12 pt., all with lifetime warranty. Plus a few larger sizes that I used exactly once. I probably won't ever need another new socket except for a specialty application yet to be determined!

If I wrenched for a living I would be on them like flies on a sh!twagon, though!

I needed an uber-stubby 10mm yesterday for trans svc on a '15 Highlander. I sacrificed a cheap Pittsburgh on the lathe, facing the top and bottom. This would never be acceptable to @AutoMechanic because he won't accept modified tools, but for the mere mortal sacrificial sockets can be useful.

I'll be keeping this one in my box for the future ;)
