My first Impact driver was a Makita around 2007. I used it to build a few sheds and other mechanical tasks, I treated it badly but it did everything I asked. Out of curiosity and my cousin preached Dewalt for years I switched a few years later to Dewalt. The brushed (brushless didn’t exist) Dewalt driver was a little better in performance and but a step down in quality, but it has taken bruising and punishment. The Dewalt drill has been ok but it’s sat unused for the most part. I have since bought more Dewalt items, but it has been very selective and only the best performing ones.
If you want to talk kids toys, the Milwaukee Impact driver has crushed them both. I am near finished with a 24x48 pole barn, and a basic 3ah battery can slam in 6 inch GRK architecture screws with ease and I get tired before it does.
Makita has not been topping the comparison charts in performance the past years, but their quality has always been very high and has my respect.
I needed an AC probe to replace my old neon/pin one. From Amazon, $33 and some change. Used it yesterday to confirm I need a new electric blanket.
Tool advice. I want new tools. I don't need them. I don't do anything. But I want them so... Anyway, battery powered. Prefer Lowe's and not HD. Open to other sources. Looking for advice on which brand to go with for best selections, results and maybe economy. I want to start with a drill type that can also be used as a power screwdriver hopefully. And a sawzall type saw I can cut a 2x4 protruding from the driveway. Obviously it would cut other things also. I know basically nothing of battery tools other than seeing 18V/20V used a lot. So any advice and/or reference material referrals appreciated. Thanks.
Lowes - Kobalt has an extremely good brushless bundle right now for $249 online, 4 tools and pick 2 more.
Build a shed with the impact driver, drill for drilling, a LED light, Sawzall for cutting your 4x2s.
If you are an aspiring wood worker, I'd go for the router and belt sander. Or even pick a toolbox from the free tool list.

If you're not against Harbor Freight you can get some great deals on the Hercules stuff right now. Buy a $99 starter kit and get a tool for free. The other week you could stack a $25 coupon on top and get battery/tool/charger for $75+tax. I picked up a portable band saw, circular saw and vac on that deal. Even without the $25 off it's a hell of a deal at $99. That's definitely an economical option and as little as I'd use anything probably the smart way to go. I have a Makita leaf blower so I should probably stick with them. I like Dewalt best visually. But I do like $99 also. Thanks!

I grabbed all this and plopped it on the counter, figuring maybe $50 but kept my mouth shut. The counter guy -- who recognizes me -- said $15
The Robinair 41067 puller seems to retail at ~$70 and the OTC p/s pulley installer around $40. The CV boot clamp "wrapper" is a Gearwrench at ~$18 retail (I try to avoid these clamps, but they're extremely universal).
The Matco spline tool for releasing damaged GM heater hoses is interesting -- I apparently have not had the pleasure of this style of heater hose retention. Guess I'm ready now
The radiator adapter in upper left is Matco, too. Looks like it fits GM or Ford expansion tanks w fine threads.

The Hercules stuff is not bad at all with their 5 year walk in warranty, if the tool fail after that toss it in the trash ditto Milwaukee and most of the others. IMO for your use the Hercules is not the worst way to go.
I think it's great to see HF stepping up. I maintain competition is good for the consumer. I hope they force Milwaukee and others to step up and/or curb pricing.

New HD on right shown next the standard 7503 left. I figured the HD would have more reach but it looks to just be more, well, heavy duty all around
I've been using these a LOT more lately for TREs and ball joints. Preload the puller (this is often all it takes) then tap the knuckle or control arm and BAM!
I know you can usually get away with nothing but a BFH, but sometimes you're wailing on it for a long time. And I don't hit (hard) aluminum knuckles, which are increasingly common. If I should dent an aluminum unit, I'll kiss it with a sanding disc to take it smooth(er).
I got a good deal on these from my Snap On dealer. HL138ACP and LN44BCF.
KM 4L60 pump puller. I liked the idea of brass inserts on the jaws. New old military stock from ebay. Was still wrapped in wax paper.

And if you are looking for impact wrenches cheaper than Hercules, the latest generation of Hyper Tough from Walmart look interesting.
I have always been a bit leery of getting invested in these types of value line cordless tools at Walmart or even HF. Just do not know when they will drop a line or move onto something else that uses a different battery format.
+1 cheap trash like Warrior and most of the Bauer stuff. What may test as not horrible may quickly let the smoke out when used only a little bit.
