New tool thread

Astro 94404 Magnetic spark plug sockets that I picked up recently. Had a job where I really needed them and they worked great.

My dad got this Snap On nutcracker for thirty bucks. The Snap on guy bought a bunch of them and sold zero so he has em up for thirty bucks down from 84(!).
I’m looking at them a d ask my dad what’s this groove for? Neither of us could figure it out.
Now I think maybe the handles come out of the same mold as a similar tool and it’s just there.
Any ideas?
Looks like they’d do great for cracking Blue Crabs this summer.

I got my $199 Makita special yesterday, two 5.0 batteries and charger and the power blower. No photo as you all know what they look like. It is very nice and not as loud as I feared it might be. Guess I'll be looking at more Makita in the future.

New pair of these fancy jaw Channellock pliers. I like that style jaw a lot. I use the Knipex style of those at work so I wanted a pair the same size for the house these were I think $13 with the coupon at the hardware store. I use my vise grips with this style jaw all the time so I think these will be handy. And these some 4 inch needle nose vise grips. I know made in Taiwan as they are old stock but still I’ve had decent luck with the Taiwan and old USA ones so I picked them up. Not sure what year they dropped Taiwan and went to China completely. I really didn’t need them but they were also cheap with the coupon and since they aren’t made in China they should at least be decent. Haven’t decided if I’m going to open them or not lol. Might be one of those things I sell haha. I got both these last weekend just haven’t had a chance to post. I’ve already used the Channellocks. I got dad a pair as well he has also used his already on his big rig so money well spent.

If those channel locks are anything like they were 20 years ago they are garbage. I don’t know why but their v jaw design didn’t work worth a darn. Straight jaws always worked better on pipe and fittings.

Koken 3/8” deep thin-wall metric impact sockets (10-22mm) and their 3/8” flex-head quick release ratchet.

These deep sockets are really deep. 3/8” Gearwrench for comparison.

I plan to use these impact sockets on my 3/8” cordless impact, so the extra depth (for tool clearance) is a pro.

The ratchet feels unusually solid for a 3/8 ratchet.

If you are willing to wait, Amazon-US has the standard length Koken ratchet 3726ZB for $58.20, with free shipping from Japan. Koken USA sells it for $124 with free shipping. (Koken-USA will not warranty any tool bought at Amazon-Japan).

I received these inexpensive hose clamp pliers from ebay. I thought they might be the same thing as the Lisle 17000. The Lisle tends to hover around $55-60 which strikes me as excessive. The ebay specials were $20.

Lisle confirms the 17000 is made in Taiwan, but I'm sure what I got is made in China, although I could find nothing about COO

That said, what I received seems decent and I think they'll work fine.

Next to the angled Lisles (which I got on a Warehouse Deal):

I stumbled on this Toy rear axle bearing puller in AWD. Got it for $89. The welds are a bit sloppy but look to have lots of body and good penetration. It's labeled as "Auto Hydra" (does this mean if I cut off its head two more grow back??) and the manual is multi-page and surprisingly good. It was either written by an American or someone in China who's very fluent in English.

That said, I don't know if all of these copies on Amazon come with a similar manual, but I kinda doubt it

And a new OTC Strut Tamer Extreme still in box. These are on intergalactic backorder (OTC/Bosch is apparently notoriously horrible about this) but I found one on ebay at a decent price and tolerable shipping charge)
