New tool thread

I bought the Drill Doctor 500X a few weeks ago, I usually sharpen the 118° on the bench grinder but not the 135° with a split point.
I don't use anything larger than 1/2"/13mm in drill bits anything larger is usually a hole saw so the 750X is not needed.
This does a nice job especially splitting the point, it takes a little practice but once you get the hang of it, it is not difficult. I had a couple of broken M42 bits, I ground the basic profile on the bench grinder and finished them with the drill doctor, they came out perfect. In 8 bits it already paid for itself.

I bought the first model they ever released. Very long time ago and it taught me a great lesson. Don't buy Chinese drill bits and don't sharpen them either because most were surface hardened and ruined by the Doctor 😂

The heavenly slotted screwdriver ..I found this screwdriver that was 100 percent perfection for a gun that was discontinued in the late 70s.. (German)
Every screw and part in this gun was engineered to make it extremely hard to knock off.

Since I have made it a business for decades to supply parts for it, this I know.

This screwdriver 🪛 goes through a trigger guard and lands dead center in the slot with zero effort...crazy good...
The bad...it's made in China...

Going to try to see if Grace will make them for me...

I'm a big fan of Koken tools. Even though I already own enough 3/8" drive extensions, I saw this 6 piece set of Koken extensions on Amazon at an attractive price of $51.56 and placed my order. I like the knurling on the drive end. Koken-USA sells the set for $94.

Man, I'd love to try some 90T Nepros stuff but I need more 1/2" ratchets like I need a hole in the head (which, according to SWMBO, is actually an urgent need at times)
LOL I needed it like I needed a hole in my head too. Then I looked and saw I didn't have a QR 1/2 ratchet because I sold my Craftsman 1/2 QR ratchet. I used that as an excuse to justify it.

Decent set of tweezers. I don't know much about them, they were about $20 shipped on aliexpress. Looks like its a Swiss company but I think they are made in Japan but I didn't see any markings on them or the packaging. They seem great for the money.

Bushing/Bearing driver set. This one has much smaller sizes that most, I think that will suit my needs well.

I have some upcoming steering and suspension work on my 1 ton truck. Most of my tooling is set up for motorcycle and "normal" automotive so I've been having any work that I couldn't do on my truck done by a small shop that I trusted. He retired and after a search for a new place to go I decided I would just spend what I would have spent on labor and buy some tools that are needed and/or will make the work easier.

I have some stuff on order but picked up this local:
Milwaukee high torque
Gearwrench 3/4" Ratchet
Titan 3/4" 40" breaker bar

Got my Koken extensions so I too can be a kool kid. I'm amazed at how nice they are.

Also a used SnapOn 8695C spanner for D44 locknuts.

And my new Robinair manifold gauge set (Zoro -10% was best price) to replace my seemingly defective Mastercool set that got sent back to Amazon. I will say that while the Mastercool seemed nice enough the overall build quality of the Robinair feels far better in-hand.

edit: SnapOn could learn a thing or two from Koken about how to build a plastic tray that isn't paper thin....although this tray will wind up in the trash anyhow

I almost ordered that recently but all I was really lacking was the TRE puller on far right, so I just got that individually from Zoro with 10% code.
Ya I really want the OTC 7503HD (The bigger version of the one that comes in the kit) It has 10 tons of force but I can't find it in stock in Canada and the only places in the US that have it don't ship to Canada so I'm SOL for now.

Same here!

I have the smaller version in the set pictured above. Nearly broke it doing lower ball joints on my Mercedes W126. I want the heavier one as this design worked better than any other…

Mile X Equipment kinda acts like they have it, but they might be relying on drop shipping so I'd confirm first.

Mile X is legit, I've ordered a Wilton from them years ago.

I bought that gauge set years ago and it has been great, this year one of the fittings (low side IIRC) started leaking, they used a square cut silicone seal not an o ring (maybe they updated it on yours), I replaced them with ones that have replacement o rings.
Smear a little Nylog blue on the male end before attaching the fitting, it helps prevent knicking the ring.

Nice piece of kit, the price is the price. If you like it good enough it certainly is the best quality.
If I posted what I paid for Klann spring compressors years ago people would think I took up smoking crack for a hobby.
A Klann kit popped up on ebay for $1200. I'm not spending that but curious -- is this the market? Does it also do diags, change your oil and wash the laundry at that price?20230910_094339.webp
