never owned a ford before, got the wife a 2012 fusion with 70k on it.

just changed the oil using supertech 5-20 (i use supertech for almost anything) and a motorcraft filter.

how are the motorcraft filters? good? i used a supertech filter in my truck.. any good or bad news on supertech filters?

also want to try something different with the fusion.. maybe a different oil.. is the motorcraft oil any good? either that or i was thinking maybe full synthetic quaker state or something.

if the fusion was your car, with those miles, and you had a walmart down the road, what would be your oil change without breaking the bank? (not over 23-25 bucks)

Fram Ultra for two oil changes, 20,000 miles at first, pushing further after filter inspection / any engine cleaning.

M1 AFE or EP for 10,000 mile oil change at first, possibly extending to 15,000 with a UOA. Mail in for M1 rebate.

fram tough guard and ultra better than the regular orange can? i wont go near the regular fram

while i'm at it.. my 06 dodge ram with 120k has always had kind of a lifter noise till warmed up... what would a good oil choice for that be? don't want anything expensive... wondering if there's something out there that will help with what i think is a lifter noise

+1

Motorcraft filters certainly have a value for money guarantee , they are pretty cheap and you can't go wrong with them really , run Whatever 5w20 full synthetic you want , maybe a 0w30?

If that car runs the 910 filter - pretty small. Even Ultra I'd go 10k max -----(I hesitate to recommend noisy oil) ...

I have 910 filter on my Sears (Briggs) mower ...

What do you mean by "noisy oil"?

Oh, ok.

Can't say I have noticed a huge difference in noise with M1.

If anything the vehicles have been a little quieter. Though in recent years I have only ever used M1 0w40 in Diesels.

PYB, and add a dose of Rislone concentrate the last 500 or so miles of the oci would be worth a try.

Wally Rislone

The new bottle of Pennzoil Platinum is yellow, right ? Time for new acronym ? Pennzoil conventional = PC ?
Might take a new thread for the tribe to vote

Motorcraft or any filter that doesn't fail. Any quality oil will keep the parts separated and last as it should.

I would run Super Tech Synthetic in it in whatever weight the manual recommends. I'd probably run the Motorcraft filter as I still think it's a good value for what you're getting. OCI at whatever the oil life monitor or manual recommends. This combination will be more than adequate and would come in around $20.
