"New" STP Blue Bottle

The one with the new label. I read it was refomulated. Does anyboby know for sure?
I sent some for a VOA today and I'll post when it comes in, but just wondering if the older stuff was the same.
I have never found a VOA for the blue bottle STP, and the red is discontinued.

Im not sure if I would put this stuff in my engine. I don't see the need for these products now days since most major brands of motor oil contains an average to superior additive package depending on what you buy.

There was a VOA done on the red-bottle stuff years ago on here, and the word was the blue-bottle stuff was the exact same, only thicker.

I tend to agree. I would only put it in an old sloppy engine, or an air-cooled VW. A lot of guys worried about their old VW flat tappets use it. I think it's a waste of money on anything newer that a piston-slapping-oil-burner, and might just possibly actually increase wear slightly on an engine in its prime years, because the modern motor oil is pretty carefully balanced by the formulators.

Sure. Let's all find out if the word on the street is true.

I think the red bottle was a gimmick and is now discontinued. There is almost no difference in final oil viscosity with the red or blue bottle stuff in 4-5 qts of oil as recommended, (like less than 6%) because the blended visc. tends to the thinner of the fluid according to a big old logarithmic formula.
No need for the red stuff, IMO.

I'd be interested to see a VOA on this stuff... Most likely just a thick GRP-II base stock with some extra ZDDP and maybe some Boron/Molly?

Yeah, I bet we see that, plus calcium. Possibly moly.
This stuff smells a little different than the 2004 copyright bottle I have (the one like in your picture).

The new stuff has that petroleum smell with just a hint of what seems like an ammonia oder to me.
The old bottle just smells petroleumy. <-- I just invented a word!

So definitely a formula change it would look like, maybe too many people were calling B.S. on their other stuff saying it wasn't doing anything but parting them from money?

As refreshing as a glass of warm ketchup on a hot summer day! Mmmm!!!

I think the problem was marketing. It was nearly impossible to find the red bottle on any store shelves. No autoparts places carried it here. I saw many posts on different forums by people who were asking where to find it.
You can't sell it if you don't put it on shelves.

Just as well. There was no real need for the 4 cylinder formula.
If you are going to use STP, there is really no useful difference in the blue vs. red based on the difference in viscosity alone.

First new label I've seen on that bottle in a long while.

I can't find the VOA, but I do remember it was something like:

1900ppm Zinc;
1300 ppm Calcium;
don't know the phos amount, but it was in there too.

TallPaul posted it, and those numbers seem about right...for the red bottle.

I've searched off and on for a couple years for a blue bottle VOA and I really don't think one has ever been posted anywhere on the Internet.

Finally my curiosity got the best of me.

Do you know what base-stock it was? If the Phos was high I would consider using it to boost my engine oil because my engine likes Phos & Zinc.

Makes me want to add it to my Pennzoil Ultra when I pour that stuff into my engine. Maybe I will do a used oil analysis without it, then with it.

Today I see that Rislone has a new genie-in-a-bottle that says "New 2010"...called Engine Oil Supplement that restores zinc and all that to old levels supposedly. It's on their website. You can check out their speil while we wait for the VOA.
