Wouldn't this be Walmart's R&D dept decision and Warren just saying, "okay, we'll make you that"I do wonder if this is just one of the new changes we'll see from Warren oil's new ownership?

I'm using the synthetic hm 5w-30 in my truck right now, along with Kirkland's 5w-30 in my malibu.ST seems like good oil . I still wouldn’t use it personally that’s just me .
severely paranoidIt should go 10 k under ideal conditions. Most of us fall under the severe catergory though
Yes I doubt seriously there has been any real significant change to the oil!My guess is they're trying to make their labeling more competitive to Mobil1, vanilla Mobil1 is "Advanced Synthetic" and says it's good for 10000mi, so Wal-Mart's trying to build off that marketing.
I'd say "most" people do not fall under severe driving conditions. A lot of people want to, like it's a badge of honor, but I doubt they do. I have read your commute and yes, in your case, that's severe. It should go 10 k under ideal conditions. Most of us fall under the severe catergory though

More people will change the oil when their car's built-in "system" tells them to. Is that wrong ?in reality most people who don't care enough about their vehicles and vehicle maintenance are going with the longest prescribed maintenance interval
My Mobil 1 AP is between 60-70% PAO ...Does that labeling justify another $10 to $20 a Jug like it did with Mobil AP and Valvoline modern engine?
