This is the upcoming replacement of the current Silver RS line. Call me nuts, but this glossy piano black finish is pretty sexy...

They also come in other veneers.

The basement is yet to be finished in the new house, but I'm already starting to look at speakers for the home theater that I want to have down there. Having owned other Monitor Audio speakers, these will probably be high on my list.

BTW, here's my old MA Bronze B2 - great speaker for smaller rooms.

And as for dust... well, I do clean/dust every now and then.

I like the ascend sierra 1. Bamboo makes a really nice, dense cabinet. I have one set natural and one in piano gloss. The piano ones really don't show much of anything, and are easy to keep dust-free.

My ears prefer Klipsch but MA makes a fine set of speakers with little deviation from neutrality.

Vocals tend to be rich, warm, and vibrant. Bass is slightly warm, clean, fast, and extended. Lots of midrange detail - Im sure you will be quite happy with the MA's.

Gloss black is classic, but the gloss white is simply striking!

Very sexy speakers. I did a back to back listen of MA's and Paradigm. I wound up with the Paradigm's. They were more realistic to me... While the MA's made sound great, the Paradigm's have a wider sound stage. Bass is tight, highs are distinct, and they are not incredibly power hungry. I'm driving them with a Denon 3808, and using it to switch between Dish and a Sony BluRay. Buy what sounds good to you... and you can never have too much power. Crank it up until the sun dims, then back one notch!

Which model did you get?

I will certainly be auditioning other speakers, too. Paradigm and PSB are also on my list.

take a loot at the Totem Acoustic and Usher floorstanders, too.
(Totem need a lot of juice to be driven to full potential, from what i hear)

also, custom speakers with great reputation: (this is about 30 min from where i live, so i will be considering them in the future):

Thanks. Those seem a bit pricey though.

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to lean towards something less refined but less costly for the time being. I am not going to be doing any serious auditioning on these. I just need something that will deliver authoritative bass (the space is over 10,000 cubic feet), but doesn't necessarily need to be the most accurate or neutral. Just something to fill the silence while playing pool. I might snatch a pair of some larger JBLs with 8" woofers off ebay. When the HT room is finished, I might go shopping again for something nicer.
