The pump saver displaces water in the pump and lubricates the pump. It makes even the cheaper pressure washers I buy last longer. Good stuff.

I just use pre mix WM ethylene glycol antifreeze 50% its cheap insurance after every use with a whip hose on pump with funnel pull cord engine off till runs out pump 10+ years on CAT pump & winters outdoors runs like day I bought it

I ended up finding an upgraded AR pump for less than $100. I was at 2.3gpm/2700psi, new pump is 2.5gpm/3000psi. Engine is plenty stronger enough to handle the upgrade. Ironically, the smaller pump was over $125+shipping, this upgraded up was only $95 shipped... This was I didn't have to sell a powerwasher and buy a new one, since the engine runs strong and have no issues with it. i think I just had a problematic pump from the start.

Ending up going with the Costco Subaru washer. Just broke it in after 5 hours, changed the oil with Mobil 1 0W30. So far so good.

Pump gets real hot but not to the point of thermal shutoff. Planning to disassemble it and replace the pump oil with 75W90 synthetic gear oil later (year or so).

Make sure you do not let the engine run for more than a minute or two with trigger released. That will heat the pump up real quick.

The biggest issue I have with my HF PW is that the gas tank is not the new "vented" type that has a vapor return into the carb. Thus, when it is running and gets hot, if I shut off the engine, the pressure will build up and force the carb float down such that it floods the engine with gas. I've gotten to the point of just shutting the gas feed down before I turn it off for any reason and that way it does not do this. If I loosen the gas tank cap, it will vibrate off or splash a bunch of gas out (hence why I don't do that).

You can see the updated engine types by the black vent line mounted to the top of the gas tank.

I'd suggest you look into the CAT premium pump oil instead of the 75W90. The CAT pump oil is made for these pumps and can handle imperfect seals.

CAT pump oil...

My pump calls for 85W90. Nowhere do I see 85w90 in the spec of this CAT pump oil. How did you come up with the idea that this CAT pump oil would work with my pump?
