new Nokian WRG2's installed last Friday

My wife nearly got into an accident with the stocker Bridgestone RE92a's on our 2005 Legacy GT wagon. Basically they don't like to stop on slush at 5/32" of tread left. She also got struggled with AWD in 1" of loose snow on top of snow pack in our driveway.

I am getting Nokian WR G2's installed tomorrow as a year round tire for our car. $180/tire installed yikes! I remember $100/tire on the Civic but I guess 14" 65 series->17" 45 series equates it out. She is a very mellow driver so she'll be happy I think with dry performance.

Give us a report with your impressions after you have driven them a while.

I got WR G2s installed on my Forester last Friday, so now have G2s on two cars (Forester and Accord) and the original WRs on one (V70). For me, they are an ideal winter tire for southern New England (eastern Massachusetts) conditions, and an acceptable ride year round.

Hows the noise on your WR's ?

Just drove home tonight with my Haka SUV 5 tires and they are quite noisy ! Too early to tell - maybe in 500 miles the noise will go away....

I have not had snow yet to see the performance but I HATE-REPEAT I HATE the noise that's coming from my tires sofar.

In general, the WRs are only slightly noisier than my summer tires, not at all objectionable, though on some roads at moderate speeds (30 - 40) I get a bit of a hum from the V70. At higher and lower speeds the hum goes away. Must be some synergistic resonance in that speed range. The WRs don't, of course, have the same level of snow performance as your Hakkas.

In NH we just got 12"+ of snow yesterday so I got to try the WR G2's out. They got me out of the unplowed driveway (slight incline) and through the plow muck(heavy slush) without any drama. The roads were anywhere from 1"-3" of packed/loose snow and stopping power was great (very hard to get ABS to engage). They work as winter tires albeit no real wear yet.

I did want to see the traction level so I shifted at 4000RPM in my Legacy turbo(250HP/250ft-lbs) and did not get any slippage on packed snow. They did really well on 2-3" slush on the highway that I traversed lanes without a hint of slippage.

All in all they seem to have the same traction level in winter conditions maybe better than my previous Nokian NRW and Nokian WR's.

On noise they rumble on pavement instead of giving a constant white noise of the stock Bridgestone RE92. The noise level was the same just different type of noise.

I will write in latter(after few thousand miles) with dry/warm day impressions as the tires are really too new to tell there.

I had the WR G2's installed today. This is my first tire for winter that's not an regular all-season and today I had the perfect conditions to try them in.

In central NJ, we had a mix of sleet, freezing rain, rain and snow. The tires were perfect in the slush! I might put these on my wife's Outback as year 'round tires (depending how they are in the dry) since she drives easier than I do. I have 17's for summer and put these on my Forester's OEM 16's.

Did you find a dealer that handles Nokian in Joisey, or did you have them mail-ordered and installed at a local tire dealer??
